FAILED TO APPEAR IN COURT

HAIRDRESSER BELIE! ED DEAD ' SUPPOSED TO HAVE DROWNED I Per Press Association.J WELLINGTON, Feb. 1. The belief that Wilfred Jesse Heaven, aged 36 years, a hairdresser, was dead was expressed at the Supreme Court to-day when he failed to answer to the bail upon which he had been released. He was to have appeared in the criminal sessions on four charges of committing offences against males. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr. W. IL Cunningham, said one of the conditions that Heaven was released upon bail was that he report to the police ! daily. A towel and clothing which had been found on the beach at Balena Bay, Wellington, some weeks ago, and nothing had been heard from hirn since. Mr. Cunningham made formal application for a bench war’/'at for Heaven’s arrest and also asked that the bail bonds be certified as estreated. Counsel said he had been briefed to represent accused. He had received from the accuse# after the vacation, • letters written during the vacation, 1 but the accused was now believed | di owned. I Mr. Justice Blair issued a bench ! warrant and the question of bail was ! deferred.
