CHARGE OF PERJURY
REMAND GRANTED ON BAIL I Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 4. A remand to appear at Christchurch on January 11 on a bail of £lOO was granted to Roy Stanley Johnston, a salesman; aged 45, who appeared before Mr. .Luxford, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, charged with committing perjury in a judicial proceeding. A request for his name to be suppressed was refused by the magistrate. The charge read's: “That on September 15, at Christchurch, Johnston, during his examination on oath in bankruptcy before an official assignee, falsely swore that a sum of £250, paid as deposit in purchase of premises at Hamilton Avenue, FendaJton, was received from one, ‘J. H. Leeming, of Box 626, Sydney,’ whereas the money was actually received from one, Wilj liam Anderson, Dunedin.”
