GUARD AGAINST THE SUN
During the summer months the modern girl spends practically all her spare time out of doors, with the consequence that, although her health is improved, her skin and hair are often ruined. Not only will her skin and hair require special treatment, but her make-up should also be adapted to the summer conditions. The outdoor girl will notice that, no matter which type of skin she may have, the sun and wind will affect it If the skin is oily it will become positively greasy, and if it is dry it will then become more so. Each of these skin types will require different treatments. Each night the oily-skinned girl will wash her face thoroughly with warm i water and a good soap, and then, after | a cold-water rinse, a good astringent be applied. In the morning a cold-water rinse should be sufficient, and a little witchhazel should then be patted into the skin and allowed to dry. Twice a week a little mild deodorant cream should be applied with your fingertips to the middle of the nose. Take care not to put any down the sides of your nostrils. This will prevent any grease bubbles appearing after a few minutes. This simple treatment should counteract the oiliness and keep your skin in a more manageable condition. A dry skin which scurfs and flakes will require quite a different treatment. Every night the face and throat should bo massaged with plenty of nourishing cream, the surplus being wiped off with one or two face tissues, and a second application applied which should be allowed.to stay on a sufficient time to allow it to be absorbed by the pores. Then, before getting into bed, all greasiness should be removed with a piece of cotton-wool, which has been dipped in rosewater.
