Pickpockets were active on the Strat- • ford racecourse yesterday, small sums ! being stolen as well as two wallets 1 containing pound notes. “I should advise racegoers and holii clay-makers visiting crowded resorts i to be on the watch,” said a police offij cer yesterday. At least one man at Stratford yesterday considers himself particularly unfortunate. He is Mr J. Norris, Central Otago, who had £l2 s f olen.
