Porewa’s first strike was not productive of many runs, the last wicket falling with 50 on the board, G. Newman (12), Collier (11), “extras” (14), making the majority of the runs. A. Duncan’s bowling figures read six for 10. Old Boys commenced their second innings with a deficit of 23 runs but despite the fact that they lost two quick wickets, Langston (20) and J. Fisher (21 not out) gave their side a sporting chance of victory. As a tailender R. Price made a valuable 11. The total reached 72, leaving Porewa 50 to get to win.
