OBITUARY
MR. C. H. MOORE. The death occurred in the Wanganui Public Hospital on Monday, of Mr. Charles Henry Moore, aged 87. Born in Truen, Scotland, Mr. Moore came to New Zealand after he had made two trips round the world in sailing ships. He landed at Timaru, where he lived until the ’eighties. While there he was given a medal for saving life in the Timaru roadstead. Coming to Wanganui. Mr. Moore married Miss Rose Schloss in 1892. He was a pioneer boatman on the Wanganui River, being employed for some years by the late Mr. A. Hatrick. Mr. Moore later took over a bush section in the Mangaweka district, where he lived until four years ago. A month ago, Mr. Moore became ill. He leaves a wife, a son, Mr. Robert Moore, Aramoho, and five daughters: Mesdames Adams and Lee (Australia), E. C. Penn (Wanganui), Morrell (Auckland), and Harding (Wanganui). Another son, Mr. Frank Moore, was killed at Gallipoli. Mr. Moore was a prominent Mason and was installed Master in the Timaru lodge in 1882.
