DUKE OF KENT’S HOPE TRADE NOW INCREASING LONDON, Dec. 22. The Duke of Kent, Governor-Gen-eral elect of Australia, presiding at the council of the King George Fund for Sailors, said: — “I was perhaps a trifle over-optim-istic last year when, because after 1 said the shipping outlook was more cheerful, that it experienced its most difficult time yet. I hope and believe that the situation will shortly improve as trade is increasing. “I am confident that when I next preside—which will not be for some years because of my visit to Australia—l will find a degree of prosperity firmly established.” He added that the fund had finished 21 years’ work for seamen.
