TENNIS MATCH. The opening match of the Te Kawau Tennis Association's competitions was held at Sandon on Saturday afternoon, when the local club played the Rongotea Club. Despite a strong wind at times a most enjoyable afternoon was spent by those taking part, the match resulting in a win for the visitors. Detailed results are: (Rongotea players mentioned first). Men's doubles: Chuchill and Tucker beat R. and F. Meyer 6-2; Gooch and Amies beat Bradley and Nesbit, 6-0; Arnott and Fox beat Gedye and Coulter, 6-3. Men’s singles: Churchill beat R. Meyer 6-1, Tucker beat F. Meyer, 6-4; Gooch beat Bradley 6-3; Amies beat Nesbit, 6-1; Arnott beat Gedye, 6-4; Fox beat Coulter, 6-2. Women's singles: Miss L. Lumsden (Sandon) beat Miss Scott, 6-2; Miss Butler beat Miss Fraser, 6-3; Miss Adams beat Miss Buchanan, 6-4; Miss Davey beat Miss Caverhill, 6-1; Miss Murphy lost to Miss Slattery, 1-6; Miss Flyger beat Miss Knox, 6-1. Women’s doubles: Misses Lumsden and Butler (Sandon) beat Misses Scott and Fraser, 65; Misses Adams and Davey lost to Misses Buchanan and Caverhill, 5-6. Misses Murphy and Flyger beat Misses Slattery and Knox, 6-4. Mixed doubles: Miss Scott and Churchill (Rongotea) beat Miss Lumsden and R. Meyer, 6-1; Miss Fraser and Tucker lost to Miss Butler and F. Meyer, 3-6; Miss Buchanan and Gooch lost to Miss Adams and Bradley, 3-6; Miss Caverhill and Amies lost to Miss Davey and Nesbit, 4-6; Miss Slattery and Arnott beat Miss Murphy and Gedye, 6-4; Miss Knox and Fox beat Miss Flyger and Coulter. 6-1. Rongotea 14 sets, 114 games; Sandon, 10 sets, 92 games. PERSONAL. The friends of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Collier will be pleased to learn that their son is making good progress after his recent operation. Mrs. C. Stewart, M.P. and Mrs. Percy Douse, of Wellington, were recently guests of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Hope, of Sandon.
