Meteorological Office, Wellington. Wednesday, October 26, 3 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred north of the Bay of Plenty but is moving away eastward. A depression covers the Tasman with low pressure centres in both the northern and southern portions. Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong north-east to northerly winds rising to gale force in some exposed positions. Seas (New Zealand waters): Becoming rather rough to rough in most parts. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong northerly winds reaching gale force in places; seas rather rough to rough. Weather: Fair to cloudy at first but becoming overcast with mist or fog at many places. Rain developing in northern and western districts by to-morrow and becoming fairly general within about 24 hours. Temperatures mild to warm. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 11 hours 20 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Temperatues: Maximum, 67deg. Fahr.; minimum 41 deg. Fahr.
