OHINGAITI

UNUSUAL ACCIDENT Mr. Eddie Cotter's friends will be pleased to know that he is making a rapid recovery from injuries received last week as a result of a kick from a horse. Mr. Cotter was engaged in leading a couple of hack horses at Paki-iti station, when, for some unaccountable reason, one of the animals dashed past him and, lashing out with both heels, struck him on the body, causing such severe internal injuries that grave concern was felt for his recovery. Dr. L. Burnett, of Hunterville, was summoned immediately after the discovery of the accident and, on arrival, gave the sufferer temporary attention and, making him as comfortable as possible under the circumstances, conveyed him with all speed to the Palmerston North Hospital, where an operation which lasted several hours was successfully performed. It is expected that Mr. Cotter will be able to resume his ordinary duties in about five or six weeks’ time.
