DOMINION AWARD SOUGHT PARTIAL AGREEMENT REACHED. [ Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Oct. 13. A partial agreement was reached to-day before the Council of Conciliation set up to consider the terms of a new Dominion award for licensed hotel workers in New Zealand. Several questions were agreed to and the dispute was adjourned until November 2. In the meantime the assessors of both parties will confer with their respective organisations. Overtime rates, holidays, terms of employment on distant engagements and provisions for certain hotels are among the clause partly, or wholly, agreed to and the questions still in dispute include annual leave, wages and hours of work. The employers offered an all round increase in wages of 2s 6d a week and asked for a five and half day week. The workers claimed an increase in wages of 5s a week for male employees and 2s 6d a week for female employees. Complete agreement on all points on a basis df a 40-hour week was reached in the Conciliation Council to-day in the Dominion canister workers’ dispute. The wage for adult male workers was fixed at 2s 7d per hour. Wages for youths were set down on a scale starting at 20s and rising to £3 10s. Provision for female workers was made at a starting wage of 19s, rising to £2 12s 6d. Provision was also made for shift workers, and two holidays, in addition to the eight statutory holidays granted by the Factories Act, were allowed.
