TRIP NORTH BY LIMITED
WONDERFUL RECEPTIONS ALONG THE LINE STATIONS CROWDED AT MARTON AND PALMERSTON (Special to “Chronicle.”) MARTON, Last night.' Travelling by the Limited express from Wellington to Auckland last night, the Leader of the National Party (Hon. Adam Hamilton) was given rousing receptions at stopping places along the line. At Palmerston North the station was thronged with people, and the same happened at Marton, where those on the platform sang “For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." Mr. Hamilton expressed his firm faith in the people who loved New Zealand to vote National on election day. “Socialism Mental Measles.” Mr. W. Sullivan, National candidate for Bay of Plenty, quoted Messrs. Lee, Savage, Armstrong, Semple and other Labour leaders on Socialism. At each quotation a solitary clapper applauded, tut the audience overwhelmingly drowned him out as Mr. Sullivan quoted Sir John Simon as saying, “Socialism is a form of mental measles; people gro*v out of it.”
