W.D.F.U.

OKOIA BRANCH . ELEVENTH BIRTHDAY PARTY A most enjoyable afternoon was spent in the Okoia Hall, on Tuesday, October 11, on the occasion of the eleventh birthday party of the Okoia branch of the W.D.F.U. The president, Mrs. W. P. Jones, welcomed a large attendance of members and friends and hoped they would have an enjoyable afternoon. Greetings were received from the various branches—Wanganui, Wangaehu, Fordell, Westmere and Okoia W.I. Apologies were received from Miss McDonald (Mangamahu), Mrs. Gray, and Mrs. L. Oliver. The beautiful cake, made and iced by Mrs. A. W. McLeod, was much admired, the weight being guessed by Mrs. Moorby. A competition was won by Mr. J. Bland. Two other amusing competitions were held, one being won by Mrs. Christie and Miss B. Jones, and the other by Mrs. Cook. Afternoon tea was then served, and the birthday cake cut, after which Mrs. Wickham spoke on the “aims and objects of the division.” Items were ■given by Miss I. Jones and much enjoyed. A most enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
