MINIMUM MAIZE PRICE

NO INDICATION YET GIVEN MINISTER’S DECISION SOUGHT GISBORNE, Oct. 12. Maize growers in the Gisborne district are still awaiting an announcement regarding the minimum price for maize to supersede that for the past three months. The price fixed during the winter was on a basis of 5s a bushel, f.0.b., Gisborne, and it was stated that this figure was for the months of July, August, and September. Growers expect an increment on maize sold during the later stages oi the season and in order to secure some information as to what increase was likely the committee of the Poverty Bay Maize Growers’ Association wrote to the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash, about a fortnight ago, asking him to give an indication as to what increment vyould be provided to cover storage and other costs. Up ic to-day no reply had been received.
