WILL WENDYITES RALLY!

Crippled Children’s Fund May Yet Eventuate Dear Wendy,—lt is about time I stirred up enough oourage to write to you. Will you please excuse me if 1 speak to the Ites instead of you today? Now, Ites, I happened to be looking over the birthday book and I decided that it was time the Ites wrote. Come on, now, Ites, be loyal to our dear Wendy. There were 42 members’ names on the birthday book. I counted how many had written to the page and there were only 14 counting new members. These were the ones who wrote: “Baby Fish,” cur worthy “Madcap,” "Princess Julia I,” “Honey Sweetheart,” "Dawn III,” "Laughing Waterlady,” “Kisco Kid,” “Rose of the Valley,” “Jean of the Woods,” "Lovejoy,” “Pauline Potoa,” “Cole’s Book Arcade” (new members), “James the Discover,” "Pansy Eyes.” Wake up, Ites, and prove yourselves worthy of Wendy's kind birthday wishes to you. Here is a poem about Wendy:— “Oh, worthy Wendy of the Clan. To welcome us you always stand And it is only right to be An ever true pal to thee, When troubles meet us half-way on, Our happy Wendy comes along. Her pages are so full of cheer That I can almost imagine her here. So come, be worthy, Ites, one and all, And you shall hear her happy call. I hope the rest of you will agree with me and all set your brains to work to think of a good idea. “Mother of Four's” idea to hold a social and dance is a splendid idea, don’t you other Marton Ites think so? Perhaps I could correspond with some Marton Ite who would be willing to help me out with some plans for these poor helpless children. I made up a piece of poetry which I will send you probably next week. It is about our feathered friends. “Madcap,” I think you are one of the most prominent members of our Clan, and you should be very proud of yourself for your regular attendance to the Clan. I must c.'ose now, hoping that I have made these Ites realise that they owe you a letter. I am your true-blue Ite—“JUST MYOWNSELF,” C.W.K., Upper Tutaenui. Many thanks, dear, for your letter to-day, which once again prompts the thought that perhaps our Marton clan may yet band themselves together and assist, as the Hunterville clan did, the Crippled Children’s Fund. It would be really wonderful if such an event could take place. I am sure every l assistance would be given them for. no I nobler cause ever needed funds as earnestly.—Wendy.
