AFTER THE DAVIS CUP AUSTRALIA’S DESIGNS LOTT TO COACH DOUBLES WILL RIGGS JOIN BUDGE? Received Aug. 12. 10.30 p.m. MONTREAL Aug. 12. The Australian Associated Press learns that Hopman intends to engage Lott to practise with tne Australian tennis team. Lott is one ot America’s leading doubles players and a noted professional coach. The step is regarded as of extreme Importance and shows that Hopmari regards the doubles as the decisive factor against America in the Davis Cup. It is generally agreed tha. Budge is assured ot botn singles ana doubles 1 berth in the American team, but phenomenal play by Riggs in the recent American tournaments makes his choice as the second singles player a virtual certainty. CAIL'S CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual genera l meeting of the Caius Tennis Club was held recently, there being a small but enthusiastic gathering. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. A. B. Christensen; vice-presidents, Mrs. J. Forbes, Messrs. H. D. Murray, A. Atkins and A. Lowe; captain, Mr. J. Foster; vice-captain, Mr. P. Tarr; secretary, Mr. C. Foote; treasurer Mrs. Foster; auditor, Mr. C. Ryan; committee, Mrs. Foote, Miss Key, Messrs. Webb and Mclntyre. This meeting decided that, although the season has been extended to covet the full year, no increase in subscription should be made, so that members may now play for the full year for the same subscription as before. The season opens on Saturday, September 3. As the club still has vacancies, intending members , arc requested to communicate with the secretary at an early date.
