GARRISON BAND CARNIVAL

CONCERT AT REGENT THEATRE The question is often asked “What is swing music?” An opportunity will present itself at the Regent Theatre to-morrow (Sunday) night when the Music Queen committee will present Tut Coltman's Swing Band, Australia’s outstanding exponents ot' the new rhythm. Every artist has been picked by Mr. Coltman and are masters in their own sphere. The personnel of the band is as follows. - Leader, Tut Coltman, leading trumpet and saxophone; Mr. Noet Fields, piano and piano-accordion; Mr. Robert Girvin, saxophone trumpet, violin and clarinet; Mr. Ross Floyd, saxophone trumpet and clarinet; Mr. James Gour, double bass, saxophone and trumpet; Mr. Allen Brown, drums, effects and vibraphone. A special feature of the programme will be the "Four Kings ot Rhythm of Radio Lore.” Miss Merle Spurdie, Music Queen, will be heard in selected numbers, and the Wanganui Garrison Band will play several number.,. Prices for admission are Is upstairs and 6cl downstairs, and the proceeds will be deboted to the Music Queen The carnival is being held to raise funds to purchase new uniforms and instruments for the band.

MAORI QUEEN DANCE Another of the popular dances in aid of the Garrison Band Maori Queen will be held at the Tuhirang: Hall, Putiki, to-night. An excellent : programme has been arranged and during the evening the suit or costume competition will be drawn.
