TARANAKI B TEAM WINS WANGANUI LOSES 14 TO 3 LEAD CHANGE OF FIVE-EIGHTHS BRINGS ATC’TORY. [ Per Prese Association.l NEW PLYMOUTH, June 6. The Taranaki B team defeated Wanganui B by 16 to 14 in a game remarkable for its changes of fortunes. At half-time Wanganui led by 14 to 3, by means of one converted try and one unconverted, and two penalty goals to a penalty goal. Taranaki had been securing the ball from the scrums, but the movements broke down at the second five-eighths. After half-time Wetton came in from the wing to second five-eighths and Taranaki was a different team and the deficit was quickly wiped out and Taranaki was attacking continually. Hook was responsible for most of Wanganui’s score, with two penalty goals and a conversion of a try scored by Berryman, who followed up a long kick. Glenn scored the other Wanganui try. The Wanganui forwards played well
ir the tight and loose, excepting lh: Taranaki got the ball from the scru almost monotonously. The Tarana backs, however, were much moi effective, with Lendrum playing t excellent game at half. The bar movements lacked penetration, ho\ ever, until a rearrangement wi made, and then the back line fun tioned well. Bowler and Butcha each scored a try for Taranaki. Ro converted both and kicked two pei alty goals. The game was marred by many ii fringements, but was very exciting parts, especially in the second ha when Wanganui fought gamely on 1 fence a;i r->t a barrage of Tnrann' attacks.
