OVERSEAS ORDERS INCREASE Rootes Limited, exporters of Humber, Hillman, and Talbot cars, Com mer and Karrier commercial vehicles, state that orders received from overseas during the first seven months of the 1937-38 season (August to February, inclusive) increased by 33.17 per cent, over those of the corresponding period of last season. Shipments were up by 29.3 per cent Rootes’ export business to the Continent shows an increase of 50.7 pei cent. During the past seven months orders from New Zealand for the Hillman Minx have representeo 83 per cent, of the total of last season’s business. Shipments to the Argentine of passenger cars were more than doubled. Hillman Minx shipments to the British West Indies increased by 150 per cent. Rootes has so far this season shipped to Canada more than twice as many vehicles as in the whole of last season. Commercial vehicles business increased by 114 pei cent, in India; by 76.2 per cent, in Burma and the Far East; and by 81.3 per cent on the Continent of Europe.
