WANGANUI AERO CLUB PRESIDENTS ANNEAL REPORT m net profit of £570 4s 10d, after Allow ing for £149 3s Id for depreciation is disclosed in the annual report nf the Wanganui Aero Club, covering the twelve mon‘hs ended March 3a, 1938. “During the year Mr S. L. Gilkison, uno was instructing in Wanganui. left to take up a position with Cook Strait Airways, and the Western Federated Flying Club was fortunate in being able tn fill the position by engaging Mr H. L. Tancred, an exRA.F. pilot, with considerable flying experience.” states the report. ‘Tn November, the New Plymouth Acio Club and Wanganui Aero Club mutually agred to handle their own flying fees, and to manage their own affairs independently for a period cf six months, it being considered that this would give more efficiency and be more economical. The result of tnis change in the administration will be disclosed at the expiration of six months, but the present indication; are that they will be favourable to both clubs concerned. “The club continues to graze their own sheep on the aerodrome, and lasi year the farm account showed a profit of £298 13s 7d. The club is very fortunate in having several practical farmers on the committee, who continue to take such a keen interest and devote such a great deal of their time to the farming of the airport. “During the year, the club acquired a new Tiger Moth training machine, of the very latest type. This necessitated the extension of the hangar to accommodate all the club’s machines, and a further thirty feet was added to the hangar. The club has since purchased the Taylor Cub imported by Mr J. R. Franklin. “The committee continues to keep the club’s property in first-class condition. and during the year both the hangar and clubhouse were repaired, and £32 spent by way of top-dressing the aerodrome. “Some attention toward the improvement of the links has been given during the year, and quite a number or members are now taking part in activities in the golf section, the organisation of which is in the capable hands of the golf captain, Mr J. S. Harrison.”
