LICENSING PROVISIONS EXPLANATION BY THE MINISTER I Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 25. Speaking on the Gazetted notice subjecting the manufacture of storage batteries to the licensing provisions of the Industrial Efiiciency Act, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan said today that the licensing is provisional and conditional on the industry preparing an industrial plan, having for its objects such factors as the protection of the public as to price, quality, and service, the safeguarding of the interests of the workers engaged in the industry as regards working conditions, the possibilty or increasing the New Zealand content of wet batteries, and the development of the industry generally. The Bureau of Industry will collaborate with the industry in preparation o> the plan.
