THE OPENING DAY AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP LONDON, May 23. In the golf amateur championship, being played l his year at Troon, tlu Australian, H. Smith, Ouimet, Goodman, Kocsis, Marvin Ward, Ray Billows and the Canadian champion, Ross Someiville, all of whom scored impressive victories.
