FALSE RUMOUR
SHOT FIRED NEAR KING CAROL. Received May 11, 5.5 p.m. BUCHAREST, May 10. A shot which was fired near King Carol during an Independence Day demonstration caused a rumour of attempted assassination to spread. Inquiries showed that the shot was due to the revolver of a plain-clothes policeman being accidentally discharged when he was jostled.
