WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, May 10, 3 p.m. General Situation.—A shallow westerly depression is moving eastward off the Dominion while an anti-cyclone of considerable intensity, of which the centre is over the south-west Tasman, is approaching from the west. Forecast: Winds: South-west to southerly, strong at first about and north of Cook Strait but gradually decreasing; elsewhere light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough at first north of Farewell Spit and between Kaikoura and East Cape, but later decreasing; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate southerly winds and slight to moderate seas: Weather: A few isolated showers probable, chiefly on the East Coast and in the far North, but weather mostly fine. Temperatures cold with many frosts. Phases ot the Moon for May.—First Quarter, May 7; Full Moon, May 14; Last Quarter, May 23; New Moon May 30.
