LYTTELTON CAPTAIN SOUTH AFRICAN BOWLER WORCESTER, May 2. Captain of the Worcestershire team which is playing the Australian cricketers in the first game of the tour, at Worcester, is the Hon. C. J. Lyttelton, who toured New Zealand in 1935-36 with E. R. T. Holmes’ English team. He was out of action most of last year because of injury. The other members of the county side are: R. J. Crisp. R. H. C. Human. A. P. Singleton, H. H. Gibbons, C. H. Bull, S. H. Martin, R. T. O. Perks, L. Howorth, S. Buller and E. Cooper. R. J. Crisp is the South African who has been playing for two years for the team conducted by Sir Julien Cahn. Next to J. Cowie, the New Zealander, and L. Constantine, the West Indian, he is considered the best overseas fastmedium or fast bowler to visit England since J. M. Gregory and E. A. MacDonald. His form since he has been living in England, however, has not been as good as when he toured with the 1935 South Africans. WORKING LIKE MACHINE AUSTRALIANS SUMMED I P [ Ter Press Association.) LONDON, May 1. Mr Howard Marshall, writing in the Daily Telegraph, says: "Bradman is as great a batsman as ever. His greatness dwarfs the most eminent contemporaries, including McCabe, who is among the world’s first throe batsmen, but McCabe is not going to allow us to forgot him. Fingleton also is going to trouble England exceedingly. There is no doubt about Badcock’s quality and Hassett’s flowing strokes demanding attention. The team already exhibits machine-like efficiency, indicating that Australia will be just as hard to beat as ever.”
