V ALUES FIRM ON CLOSING RATES. Received May 2, 10.30 p.m. SYDNEY. May 2. There was good general competition at the wool sales to-day. The Continental sections predominated, especially the French, and values were fully firm on the closing rates of last week. Shafty wools displayed a hardening tendency. Greasy Merino realised to 19<d. The offering consisted of 9165 bales, of which 8440 were sold at auction and 414 privately.
