QUEEN CARNIVAL CARD PARTY AT “CANDOWN ’ The home of Mr and Mrs J. H. P.?ifrett, “Candown,'’ Sanson, was the scene last week of a very delightful flag “500’ evening in honour of lhe Western Queen, Miss F. Anderson. Mrs Perrett received her guests wearing an amethyst floral model frock, while Miss D. Perrett wore black floral crepe georgette. Miss F. Anderson, the guest of honour, was wearing a white floral “spot dimity. ’ The drawing-room was beautiful!; decorated with large autumn-tinted dahlias. During the evening Mr M. Pearce, on behalf of the Western committee, thanked Mr and Mrs Pcirett for‘so kindly throwing open their home. SI C'CESSFI L CONCERT FOR CENTRAL QUEEN There was a very large and su - Cessful gathering in the Town Hu last week at a conceit and da.it given for the Central Queen (Mi&> Jean Butler*. The guest of honoat wore a pink floral tatteta frock. The hostesses were Mcsdames F. Collier, in brown . ppliqued taffeta; W. J. Rowan, flam? crepe; R. Gcdye, wine velvet and lace; H. V. Bond, brown georgette; E. N. Butler, black crepe; and J. W. Meyer, brown crepe de chine. The hall and the stage were beautifully decorated with dahlias. The following is the concert programme, which was arranged by the Girls’ Music Club, Palmerston North’ Pianoforte solos, Mrs Collier; song. Miss Laurenson; seng. Mrs Sticit\h; community singing; tap dance, June Dickson; song, Miss Diederich; elocutionary items. Miss Whittaker; doll dance, Misc Peggy Builick; tap dance. Neil Bruce; duet. The chairman of the queen carnival (.Mi Drew? announced further entertainments to be held for the veiious candidates. GARDEN PARTY The picturesque home of M Mrs Le Roy Henson, Mt. Stev.. i. was a very gay setting for a ga-tk.j party for the Eastern Queen, ML Ruth Henson, oa Saturday afternoon. There was a very good attendance, keen interest being taken in the mar.x competitions provided for the entertainment of patrons.
