HUNTERVILLE CATTLE FAIR. Dalgety and Company Limited report on the annual cattle fair held at the I-luntervilel yards on Thursday last, when a large yarding of approximately 1500 head were offered to a large and representative gathering of buyers from the Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Wanganui, Main Trunk and Manawatu districts. A feature of the yarding were some outstanding pens of well grown 24, 3J and 4J-year P.A. and Hereford bullocks offered on account of Messrs George Grace, Douglas Duigan and A. Hatrick, these selling under keen competition at prices ranging from £8 16s to £lO 16s, these values showing an improvement of 5s to 10s a head on recent sales. Good weaner steers were yarded in smaller numbers, and a sound sale resulted. Cows and heifers were also forward in large numbers, buyers showing preference for the empty fat and forward sorts, values being firm; competition, however, was quieter for the run cows r.w.b. which were low in condition, and showing a little age. Taking the sale all over, it was considered to be the outstanding sale of the recent cattle fairs, and vendors were pleased with the prices obtained.
