PLAYERS, OFFICIALS, SPECTATORS Don Evans, the Wanganui Olympic runner, who five times won New Zealand half or quarter-mile events, has turned again to Rugby, having joined Kaierau. He played in Taihape originally, turning out for Hautapu. Charlie Mackie, outside right for the New Zealand soccer team in 1936, played in Saturday’s seven-a-side for Kaierau. R. Grace (Wanganui and Old Boys’ centre) was injured on Saturday. He was admitted to hospital and there was no change in his condition last night. A. Deerness and E. Newton, both Pirates players, were injured on Saturday. Deerness suffered a broken nose and E. Newton a fractured collarbone. W. Firmin, Kaierau forward and Wanganui representative, was married last week. He will not be playing this year. His wedding was blessed by a strong attendance of his maroon clubmates Glen Hook, ex-Marist player, played for Wanganui and Old Boys on Saturday in the seven-a-side. W. McDougal, famous among the younger Rugby enthusiasts of Wanganui, is leaving for Auckland. Asked what he intended to do when he got there. Bill's reply was short and simple: “Play Rugby,” he said. P. Blakeley (Technical Old Boys and Wanganui representative forward) was married recently to a daughter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Rogers,

Mayor and Mayoress of Wanganui. Blakeley has signified a wish to give up Rugby. H. A. Brogden (Kaierau, half-back), who suffered a broken leg last year, is playing again this season. M. Grogan, five-eighth in the Technical College first fifteen last year, turned out for Technical Old Boys in the seven-a-side tournament on Saturday. M. “Doc” McGregor (Fordell) places his Rugby definitely before his golf. He was playing his usual hard game for Wanganui and Old Boys on Sat Jiff ay.
