X’OTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Ballot for the Election of TWO Directors will be held at the Society’s Head Office, 87 Pitt Street, Sydney, and at each Branch and District Office of the Society, on Tuesday, 10th May, 1938, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Directors due to retire in terms of By-law 15 are:— DR. GEORGE HENRY ABBOTT, and WILLIAM ABERDEIN MACKAY, Esq. both ot whom are eligible for reelection. The following members have given the requisite notice that they are candidates for the two vacant seats on the Board:— DR. GEORGE HENRY ABBOTT. JOHN EDWARD GARVAN, Esq. WILLIAM ABERDEIN MACKAY, Esq. Any member may vote personally by Ballot on the date stated above at the Office on the Register of which the Policy entitling him to vote is entered, or may record his vote earlier by signing and forwarding to such Office a Voting Paper, which will be supplied to him on application. Such Voting Paper must be duly completed and must reach the Office where the Policy to which it relates is registered before the hour fixed for closing the Ballot, viz., 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 10th May, 1938. Powers of Attorney to be acted upon, must, in terms of By-law 47 (c) be produced to the Secretary or the Manager of a Branch Office for examination not later than Saturday, 7th May, 1938, and be determined by him to be sufficient. QN the Ist May, an instalment of the Registration Levy will become payable by all male persons twenty years of age and over, other than those entitled to exemption. The first instalment of the Employment Charge of 8d in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended 31st March, 1938, also falls due on the same date. It is essential that a declaration of such income (“nil” or otherwise), together with the declaration of “Industrial and Occupational Status,” be furnished during May by males (including Natives) who have attained the age of twenty years. In the case of a “nil” declaration of income, Part II of the form must be completed. Women (including Native women) twenty years of age or over whose income other than salary or wages is in excess of £5O are also required to furnish similar declarations. Declaration forms and further information may be obtained from any Money-order Office, together with details of the classes of persons who are exempt from the Registration Levy and the Employment Charge. Persons who fail to furnish declarations as and when required, render themselves liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of £5O. A penalty equal to 10% of the amount of tax due will be incurred on any instalment not paid within one month of the due date. An employer who employs for more than seven days a person who is in arrears with the Registration Levy is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of £2O. J. M. PARK, Commissioner.
