A further increase of £854,988 brings the total amount of sterling exchange up to £18,326,687. The latest figure represents an increase of £2,157,190 since April 4. Gold is unchanged at £2,801,791. Subsidiary coin amounts tc £227,360, an increase of £6OO. Advances to the Primary Products Marketing Department total £4,071,226, a further decrease of £167,108. This week’s total is £1,143,118 below that of April 4. Investments remain unchanged at £2,423,525. Other assets at £99,724 show a reduction of £2303. The note issue totals £14,082,262, a further increase of £54,853. Demand liabilities to the State amount to £4,999,924, a decrease of £750,115. An increase of £1,057,359 in the trading banks’ reserve balances brings the total up to £6,547,816. Other demand liabilities total £241,390, an increase of £50,141. Other liabilities amount to £578,922, an increase of £273,948.

The statement balances at £27,950, 314, an increase of £686,186.
