HINTS TO JEWS WISE TO KEEP AWAY ITALIA?? PRECAUTIONS. LONDON, April 28. The Rome correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that the chief of the Italian Public Security Department, Senator Bocchini, is not taking any chances about Herr Hitler’s safety in Rome. Many Jewish and other refugees who have arrived in Italy since 1935 have been told that it will be wise to keep clear of Rome, Naples, and Florence until Herr Hitler has gone, and that those who would not or could not take the hint are being placed under “precautionary arrest.” A system of passport control has been introduced on the roads to Rome. Cars are halted outside the city and passports examined.
Landlords and householders are warned that they will be responsible for the good behaviour of their tenants. Flower-pots must be removed from balconies and windows because they might fall on Herr Hitler's head.
