Mr H. B. de Lautour has been reeletced unopposed as Mayor of Taihape.

Mr S. S. Timbs, of Wanganui, leaves New Zealand on Monday week (May 9) by the Ruahine for England.

Mr W. A. Izard was elected president at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Acclimatisation Society last evening.

Mr James Allison was re-elected patron at the annual meeting of tiie Wanganui Acclimatisation Society last evening.

Mr. E. F. Hemingway has been elected Mayor of Patea unopposed. He is the present chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, and has been a resident of Patea for many years.

Mr F. Purnell has been re-elected Mayor of Marton, unopposed. He has also been returned unopposed to the Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board, of'which he is the present chairman.

Mr H. J. Duigan was elected a life member at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Acclimatisation Society last evening. Mr Duigan resigned from the presidency after occupying the position for 17 years.

Mrs. H. P. Monkhouse, 8.A., has been appointed senior mistress on the staff of the Wanganui Technical College in the place of Miss J. Hume, who is leaving. Mrs. Monkhouse, who is a member of the staff of the Wanganui Girls’ College, previously taught at the Napier Girls’ High School and Takapau Grammar School.
