ANNUAL MEETING OF FOOTBALL CLUB

There was an excellent attendance at the annual meeting of the Sanson Football Club, the president, Mr. C. Miller, presiding. In his opening remarks Mr. Miller stated how pleased he was to see a good attendance and that it was up to the boys themselves to decide whether the club was to go into recess or to nominate a team in the Te Kawau Union competition. He hoped that the meeting would have a full and free discussion on the question. Mr. E. J. Bowater outlined the proceedings at the annual meeting of the Te Kawau Rugby Sub-union, and stated if the boys wanted football they must pull their weight and do everything possible in the interests of football. After discussion it was unanimously agreed that the club nominate a junior team in the sub-union’s competition. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr. T. H. Williams; president, Mr. C. Miller; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. J. Bowater, S. L. Kent, Keith Lumsden, Dan Hammond, B. Laurence, F. Murphy and S. L. Orr; secretary, J. Coulter; assistant-secretary, K. Cockburn; club captain, Mr. B. Laurence; gatekeeper, J. Meyer; firstaid officer, A. S. Reeve; auditor, S. L. Orr; referee. Major Sanson; management committee, secretary, president, club captain, R. Bisfcop, G. Williams and the union delegates; union delegates, C. Miller, K. Cockburn and E. J. Bowater; manager, A. Adams; social committee, all members. It was resolved that the subscriptions be the same as last year, viz., 2s 6d and Is insurance, and that the club colours be blue and white. It was decided to reccommend to players to place their orders for gear with the secretary immediately. The question of transport was fully discussed and finally it was agreed that players contribute Is 6d per head towards travelling expenses.

It was resolved that an endeavour be made to arrange a practice match with the Rongotea Club on Easter Saturday at Sanson. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.

MINIATURE RIFLES OPENING SHOOT The Sandon Miniature Rifle Club's opening night shoot was held at the local range last evening. There was a fair attendance of members, and the shoot was considered quite satisfactory. Highest score was K. Lumsden (136), an excellent shoot for the beginning of the season.

Pearce 67, W. Pearce 54, K. Jessop 53, M. Sutcliffe 49. ANNUAL MEETING OF PIG CLUB The first annual meeting was held in the Town Hall last evening. There was a good attendance of members, the chairman. Mr. C. E. J. Eglinton, presiding. Two new members were, welcomed. The chairman, in reviewing the year’s activities, said that the work had been mainly of a foundation nature, but now ('’at the club was firmly established ne considered the movement was going to be a very beneficial one to the industry as a whole, particularly in the improvement of management. The financial position terminated with a small credit balance on the year’s working, which members agreed was quite satisfactory for the first year’s operations.

Kilpatrick. Various matters in connection with ♦he field day to be held at the Longhum freezing works on April 13 were finalised. QUEEN CARNVIAL The additional nomination for the eastern area in the Sandon Queen Carnival, commencing on April 20, is Mi.<s Ruth Henson, Mt. Ste. *. PERSONAL Mr. W. Leat was one of the gue.-’.s at an evening tendered by the Bulls branch of the R.S.A. last evening. Mr. Leat will shortly leave for Australia with the New Zealand contingent of returned soldiers who are visiting that country in connection with the celebrations to be held on Anzac Day.
