WINCHESTER ACCIDENT
DEPARTMENTAL INQUIRY BEGUN I Ter Press Association. ] i ASHBURTON, April 11. A departmental inquiry into the runaway train accident at Winchester on Friday opened here this morning in camera. The board comprises Messrs Lusty, assistant chief engineer, Wellington (chairman), Clarke, district traffic manager (Dunedin), Binstead, locomotive engineer (Christchurch), and Ramsay, guard (Dunedin). The hearing of about a dozen witnesses is expected to occupy two days. The result will be announced by the general manager or the Minister.
