VISITORS FROM HAWERA PARK CLUB AT RAPANUI WEEK-END GAMES PLAYED Park Club (Hawera) were visitors, with six rinks, at Rapanui green during the week-end. Two games were played and the gren was in excellent order. Results are as follow, Rapanui bowlers mentioned first:—

Sealy thanked the visitors for theii attendance and trusted that the good fellowship existing between the Rapanui and Park bowlers would for ever continue. Three hearty cheers were accorded the visitors.

Mr J. Goodwin, president of the Park Club, in thanking Mr Sealy lot his kindly remarks, said that his club mates considered that the Rapanui Club was one of the clubs whom they looked forward to meeting on the bowling green. The Rapanui ladies, said Mr Goodwin, lived right up to their high standard in catering for them at afternoon tea, and .on his call three hearty cheers were given them.

TAIHAPE SUCCESSES RANGITIKEI SHIELD AND WEBB BOWL Taihape enjoyed a most successful day at Raetihi during the week-end, winning the final of the Rangitikei Shield competition against Taumarunui, and also the Webb Bowl (champion of champions singles). M. Goer represented the Taihape Club in the latter- event and scored a well deserved victory, which comes as a fitting climax to a highly successful season as far as this popular player is concerned. Not so long ago Goer won the Taihape Club championship and now he has scored a further triumph, adding fresh laurels to an already imposing record of achievements.

Detailed results of the Rangitikei Shield competition are as follow, TaL hape players being mentioned first: Hodges, Gledhill, Marsh, Fleming 19, defeated Todd, Mepham, Vujvivh, Sarah 9.

Ryan, Neagle, Murphy, Seccombe 24, defeated Logan, Gardiner, McBeth, Mattar 15.

Webb Bowl (Champion of Champions Singles)

First Round—Goer defeated Lynch (Raetihi), who recently won the champion of champions singles in Wanganui. Second Round. Goer defeated Perry (Ohakune). Lynch and Perry played off to decide who should meet Goer in the final and Perry won. Final.—Goer defeated Perry. The Raetihi president (Mr White? welcomed the Taihape and Taumarunui visitors. Messrs Fleming (Taihape) and Todd (Taumarunui) re-

sponded on behalf of their respective clubs and thanked the Raetihi Club for its hospitality.

At the conclusion of the day’s play, Fleming received the Rangitikei Shield on behalf of Taihape, while

Goer was presented with the Webb Bowl. Both made a happy littls speech and commented on the perfect state of the Raetihi green, and added that it gave them much pleasure to receive the trophies mentioned.
