Guiding \vas| charged that 1c assaulted William! Eric Campbell, and pleaded guilty. Campbell, who is a farmer residing in a boardinghouse, said he heard a woman calling out, apparently in distress, and also heard several bumps. Later Golding entered witness' room and kicked him in the stomach and then in the face. “My nose is broken,’ the witness told the magistrate. “I have never spoken to him before and never given him any provocation.” The boardinghouse proprietor said he saw Golding in a most extraordinary slate, apparently searching for the woman who had called out. A constable gave evidence that Golding smelt of liquor, but was not drunk. The Magistrate: “The man doe.not try to control himself. Here is a most brutal assault on an inoffensive Jami who is a cripple. He kicks him reason whatever.”
