Epidemic in Bay Of Islands POWERS GIVEN TO CLOSE SCHOOLS t Per Pre»« As?oclttlon. | WHANGAREI, March 21. ” Since February there have been ten deaths at Northland due to measles, the deaths having occurred in the area embraced by the northern part of the Bay of Islands County to North Cape. The Minister of Health has now authorised the medical officer of Northland to exercise the provisions of Section 76 of the Health Act and order the closing of schools in th® Mangonui County which is extended also to embrace Whangaroa and Hokianga Counties and Kaitaia Town Board district Further action will be taken a* necessity arises. About a thousand cases have been notified to date.
