PERSONAL.

Mr and Mrs. L. E. Weston are holidaying in the North Auckland district. Miss D. Fenton, of Marton, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. O. Foote, Ohingaiti. twenty-first birthday PARTY. A very pleasant party was held at i the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. Fenton, Marton, when the coming of age of their eldest daughter, Ruth Ila, was celebrated by some fifty guests. A very enjoyable dance was held in the evening, the music being supplied by two friends who played excellent time on piano-accordians. During an enjoyable supper, the guests of the evening was presented with a gold key by her father. She also received many beautiful presents. During supper many speeches were made and toasts honoured. The engagement was announced of the guest of the evening to Mr. Bernard Clark, of Wanganui. The evening ended happily with the singing ot “Auld Lang Syne.” Among the guests present were Mr. and Mrs. W. Fenton, Mr. and Mrs. H. Russell, Mr. and Mrs. Peffers, Mr. and Mrs. O. Foote, Mr. and Mrs. G. Crosland, Mr. and Mrs. A. Beckman, Mr. and Mrs. Slade and family, Messrs. P. Burnett, K. Aiderton, H. Agson, B. Clark, J. Clatt, C. and F, Voss, A. Russell, F. Russell, C. Amer, G. Watts, E. Fenton; Misses R. Fenton, I. Fenton, D. Fenton, M. Tarsell. B. Sopp, C. Rivers and many others. SCHOOL FUNCTION FAREWELL TO REV. L. N. WATKINS. The Rev. L. N. Watkins, who has visited the Ohingaiti School every Friday morning for the purpose of giving religious instruction to the children was farewelled by the pupils last Friday. The Rev. Mr. Watkins is taking over the Wadestown Parish, Wellington, and leaves for his new position on Monday 21st. inst. The headteacher (Mr. W. L. Martyn) expressed to Rev. Watkins the sorrow of the pupils at the going of such a favourite preacher. Rev. Watkins had always been cheerful, thoughtful and sincere in his teaching and the pupils would greatly miss his visits. He then called on Patricia McKnight to make the presentation of ‘Everyman’s England,” and a fountain pen to Rev. Watkins. The smallest children in the school, Georgina Christensen and Kathleen Jamieson each presented Mr, Watkins with a bouquet of flowers for Mrs. Watkins and the family. Rev, Watkins, in reply, said it was always a pleasure to visit the school and also expressed the hope that some of his teaching would remain impressed on their minds. The children sang "For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow," and gave three hearty cheers for the Rev. L. N. Watkins.
