BRITISH EFFORTS TOWARD SETTLEMENT
[ British Official Wirtle**.] RUGBY, March 17. Questioned in the House of Commons on the Polish-Lithuanian frontier incident, the Prime Minister said that the British Ambassador in Warsaw had been requested to impress upon Poland the importance Britain attached to a peaceful settlement of the incident. The Lithuanian Minister called at the Foreign Office. A statement on the Polish-Lithu-anian frontier incident was made in the House of Commons by Mr. Chamberlain, who, after referring to the Polish Government’s ultimatum addressed to the Lithuanian Government, said that the British Ambassador in Warsaw had impressed upon the Polish Government the hope that this question will not be used as a pretext for making wider demands. Britain is in touch with both parties. DISCUSSIONS IN PARIS PARIS, March 18. The Russian Ambassador called on the Foreign Minister, M. Paul Boncour. It is understood that they discussed the Polish-Lithuanian situation. Mr. David Lloyd George also saw M. Paul Boncour.
