.LIGHT ENGAGED IN CLP PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY fhe Pahiatua Racing Club’s annual .meeting will be held to-day and tomorrow, and it promises to be a succssful lixture, attracting patronage _om the Wairarapa, Manawatu, xawke’s Bay and, Rangitikei districts i addition to Wellington. The singleool system of betting will be used, nd the first race will be started at : 12.20 p.m. The principal event, the Pahiatua up, has attracted a field of eight, inmuded being Lucullus Lad, Master yklon and Pukeko, who are likely to e well supported. Limbohm, Helen ord. Hunting Queen, Pladie and erry will also aad to the interest in ■ • e\ent. For the sprinters there will be the .xetahuna Handicap, run over seven .irlongs, and here the chances of .one Raider may appeal more than .;e topweight, Pakanui. The hack events have all filled well, nc sole exception being the distance ace, the Hamua Hack Handicaj. PAHIATUA RIDERS MAESTRO DOING WELL (Special to ‘’Chronicle.”; PALMERSTON N., Jan. 27. Woodville stables are fairly well’: represented at the Pahiatua meeting,: and some of the stake-money should come their way. Maestro, who was narrowly beaten i by Buster Brown in lhe Gorge Hack • Cup at Ashhurst, figures in the Ha-; mua Hack Handicap, and he will be. ridden by G. R. Tattersall. He has, not done much since Ashhurst, but! should be in good order for Pahiatua.: Waterproof (by Tidal; and Lucky Charm will make their debut in the) Maiden Race. The former will be : ridden by M. Gilmore, and the latter by N. Cavaney . B. Stowe was at Woodville lor aj couple of days, and yesterday took j Pakanui and Knightsbridge on to Pa-J hiatua.. Both horses look well and are none the worse for their recon, racing. • Aube is entered for the second day and he looks well, but Son and Hen injured a leg at Ashhurst, and he will be unable to fulfil his Pahiatua j engaagements.
