SEVERE EARTHQUAKE
MEXICO CITY DISTURBED CENTRE PROBABLY IN THE Gt 11 Received Dec. 24, 7 p.m. MEXICO CITY, Dec. 23. An earthquake of intense proportions badly shook the capital. All the instruments in the national observatary were broken and meteorologists are unable to determine the exact direction of the disturbance. Hundreds were aroused from sleep and rushed into the streets. A man was electrocuted when a live wire fell. A New York message states that seismologists declared that the earthquake occurred probably in the Gulf of Mexico, off Tehuantepec, about 150 miles from shore*
