NEW PLYMOUTH TRACKS

TUESDAY’S GALLOPS PREPARATIONS FOR FEILDING Several useful gallops were performed at New Plymouth on Tuesday morning by Feilding candidates. Both the plough and the outside of the course proper were used for galloping with the going firm and fast, writes “Childers” in the Taranaki Herald. On the outside Clessamor had Drathula a a companion over the middle stages of six furlongs but he came home alone in USi. Clessamor looks well at present and is in good shape for Feilding. Tomoana and Ringside were on terms at the end of six furlongs in 1.6. The former is coming to hand nicely. Ripple was half a length in front of Ohanga at the end of five furlongs in 1.6 2-5. Ripple moved freely but Ohanga is inclined to be lazy on the tracks. A good trial was performed by Winsome Lu, who had Bonny Glow and Eady Kyra as companions over seven furlongs. Bonny Glow jumped away three lengths in front of the others ‘but finishing strongly Winsome Eu was ahead at the close with Lady Kyra about three lengths in the rear. The first half-mile was run in 53isec., and the full distance in 1.33. Winsome Lu went well and the middle distance at Feilding should not trouble her. Although Lady Kyra was on the outside her effort was rather disappointing. The novices, Lady Boden and Majority, sprinted two furlongs smartly in 25isec.» with Lady Boden going the better. On the plough Tahurangi was sent out over a mile and a-quarter, the last seven furlongs of which he ran in 1.34 3-5. He was picked un over the last two by an unnamed Mint Leaf marc, the pair sprinting home in 26i sec. This pai rare in the hands of feminine trainers and the Mint Leaf mare was ridden by a girl in the trial. Tahurangi is to reappear at Feilding. The only other gallop on the plough was done by Race Call and Dancing Lady over six furlongs in I.IBL Dancing Lady did not work kindly, Race Call finishing a couple of lengths in front.
