REGENT THEATRE

“HOT MONEY” AND “BARRED WINDOWS” Ross Alexander’s current Warner Bros, picture, “Hot Money,” now showing at the Regent Theatre, is a comedy-romance dealing with the enterprise of a fast-talking, smoothworking promoter. Playing opposite Ross Alexander in “Hot Money” is Beverly Roberts. Paul Graetz, the noted German character actor, plays the role of an eccentric inventor and Joe Cawthron portrays the nfuch-worried individual who puts up the “front money” for Alexander’s promotional exploits. “Barred Windows,” the new Warner Bros, mystery melodrama, is on the same programme. There is a talented all-star cast, in addition to hundreds of extras in the roles of prisoners. Craig Reynolds and June Travis have the leading roles, while others include Barton Mac Lane, Richard Purcell, Addison Richards, George E. Stone, Eddie Acuff, Joseph King, Joseph Crehan, Mary Treen and Charles Middleton. “Rustlers’ Valley.” The machinations of a crooked banker, out to rob a number of ranchers of valuable lands, is the challenge to “Hopalong Cassidy” in the latest Clarence E. Mulford outdoor action romance, Paramount’s “Rustlers’ Valley,” which opens on Saturday. It is up to “Hopalong” to clear the name of his pal “Lucky,” and to show up the banker as the head of a band of rustlers, all of which he does in his usual mile-a-minute fashion. The cast is headed by William Boyd, George Hayes, and Sussell Hayden, and includes Stephen Morris, Muriel Evans, John Beach and many others. “Blonde Trouble” on the same programme, is a comedy that lives up to its intriguing title. With its witty lines, its merry situations, its tuneful songs, and its gay romance, it is a sparkling production. The cast includes such clever people as Eleanore Whitney, Johnny Downs, El Brendel, Benny Baker and Lynne Overman.
