FIRST DAY SUCCESS. [ Per Press Association. 1 DUNEDIN, Nov. 24. The summer show of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society, the, sixtieth of a long and useful in the interests of live stock breeding in the province, was opened at Tahuna Park to-day. Judging day was held under the most favourable auspices, and the popular annual event was an outstanding success. There was more than good weather behind the conspicuous success of this year’s show entries, on the whole they were better than last year, and in the sheep pens, in particular, there was a display of quality and variety more in keeping with Otago’s reputation as a pastoral province than for many showings in this department of recent years. All the judging was completed except the Clydesdales and light harness horses and hacks. INC REASED GATE RECEIPTS [ Per Press Association. ] DUNEDIN, Nov. 24. The weather was fine to-day for People’s Day at the Otago A. and P. Society's Show and the attendance was the largest for years. The gate receipts totalled £504 17s 6d, compared with £274 7s 6d last year. The total receipts for the two days were £652 10s against £297 11s in 1936.
