AN INTERESTING FILE

ART EXHIBITION PUBLICITY CLIPPINGS FROM MANY CENTRES Accompanying the Empire Loan Collection now at the Sarjeant Gallery, Wanganui, is a very interesting and very bulky tile containing published notices of the exhibition in various centres where it has appeared. Each city where the pictures have been exhibited has, from time to time, published comment and news regarding the collection. These clippings have been made up into convenientlyarranged files which have been embodied in the major file containing not only minute instructions regarding the collection but also a copy oi the original Bill passed the Houses oi Lord and Commons, England, to permit the collection to be circulated overseas. Before the pictures could be used on an Empire chain of exhibition a Bill had to be passed by Parliament permitting them to travel. The fact that the collection is worth over a quarter of a million adds to its importance. The Wanganui City Council Arc Gallery Committee has had a file of Wanganui references to the collection and this has been added to the clippings gathered in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Auckland and Wellington. All the newspaper references to the collection while in Wanganui have been included, together with a copy of the programme and various circulars and advertisements. The exhibition has less than a fortnight to run in Wanganui, its closing date being scheduled for December 5. It goes from here to Christchurch and then to Dunedin. From Dunedin it proceeds to South Africa, where it will be exhibited at various galleries in that port ion of the Empire. Patronage in Wanganui, while not up to expectations at the commencement of the exhibition, has shown marked improvement of late. The fact that people have come from as far afield as New Plymouth specially to view the collection has given empr.isis to its importance.
