HIS SKILL BETRAYED HIM
His trained surgeon's hand betrayed Dr. V. M. Afanasyev, a Moscow physician, who was found guilty of his wife’s murder.
Dismembering the body of his wife, Afanasyev packed the pieces in small parcels and scattered them in various places in the suburbs of Moscow. He then reported the “sudden disappearance of his wife" to the police. As the parcels came to light the skill with which the body had been cut up revealed the trained hand of the surgeon. This ultimately led to his arrest.
