ENGLISH CARDINAL
POPE’S REGARD FOR ENGLAND. LONDON, Nov. 18. “It is owing to h.»s regard for England that the Pope wishes to have an English cardinal,” Cardinal Hinsley told interviewers. “The Pope looks on England as a classic land of liberty and regrets the estrangement between Italy and England in the past two or three years. Quite definitely my appointment has no political significance, but there is no doubt the Pope wishes to promote peace in every way.”
