WEDDING

THEM AIN—PEFFERS One of the pretty weddings that took place in October was that M Mavis Gwendoline, only daughter of Mrs Peffers and the late Mr C. Peffers, of Wanganui, who was married to Ernest, youngest son of Mr and Mrs M. O. Tremain, of Wanganui. The ceremony was celebrated on Saturday, October 16 at the Trinity Methodist I Church, decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride. The Rev. R. Dudley officiated. Entering the church with her uncle, Mr Alec Peffers, the bride made a dainty picture in her gown of rich ivory bridal satin fashioned on closefitting lines. Inlet with rouleax work the round high neckline of the bodice was finished with a plait of satin and a row of tiny satin buttons finished the back. The full sleeves, also inlet with rouleax work, tapered to a point over the hands and this same effective cut-out embroidery beautifully adorned the circular train which fell gracefully from the flared panels in the skirt. A coronet of tiny seed pearls and orange blossoms held to the head her embroidered tulle veil. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of cream and palest pink roses, carnations and lily of the valley with dainty maidenhair fern and satin ribbon streamers. Miss Gwendoline Brewer was brides-, maid, and chose a frock of apple green organdie with high neck finished with a plait to match the bride s frock. Tiny buttons finished the back of the bodice and the puffed sleeves were elbow length. The skirt was close-fitting to the knees, where fullness was given with frilled godets. She wore a most unusual head-dress in the form of a Juliet cap composed of pink sweet peas to match the lovely cascade bouquet of apricot and sunset pink ranunculus, roses, sweet peas and large pansies with the shower effect starred with small flowers and toning ribbon streamers. Green shoes completed a becoming ensemble. The duties of best man were fulfilled by Mr Robin S. Wallace. On leaving the church the bride was presented with floral and satin horseshoes by little Beverley Brewer and Patricia Mulcahy. A reception was held at the D.I.C. Tearooms, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, Mrs Peffers, who wore a smart navy blue and white two-piece model ensemble, navy blue hat and accessories to match. She carried a posy of orange and flame ranunculus and pansies with orange ribbon. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a green and gold model frock, green hat and accessories to tone. Her posy was of old gold toned ranunculus, mignonette, golden pansies and violas with gold ribbon. For going away the bride chose a navy blue tailored costume with beige georgette blouse, navy halo hat, bag and shoes to match. The beautiful three-tiered cake was adorned with a spray of real lily of the valley, carnations and ferns.
