Mr. and Mrs. D. Quickenden returned from the South Island. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Moore will spend the week-end in Palmerston North. Mrs. Bob Allen, who has been the guest of Mrs. H. L. Moore, has returned to Palmerston North, with her two small boys. Mrs. A. Gillon has returned from Wanganui. ,■*•««< Mr. R. W. Hac'-jw was in Stratford on Thursday, judging in the Highland section at the show. Miss Margaret Gilligan is visiting her parents. Miss Lynda Haswell, who has returned from an extended holiday abroad, is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Haswell. Mr. Haswell recently returned from attending the Presbyterian Assembly at Auckland. f Mrs. Leigh and Miss 1.. Carey return to-day from Auckland with Mr. A. A. Carey. Miss N. McGenna, Hawera, is the guest of her mother for the week-end. Miss E. Hamerton is visiting Wellington. Miss A. Boagey leaves shortly lor holidays in Auckland. Mrs. T. Jones has returned from a visit to her sister at Hurleyville, and Miss Helen Jones has returned home from the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. C. Fitzwater, Auckland, who have been visiting Mrs. A. W. Blyde, have left for Wellington. Owing to yesterday’s storm, the Patea Plunket Society’s garden partyhad to be postponed, it being very unfortunate as arrangements were completed for excellent entertainment for visitors. At a meeting of the South Taranaki Scouts’ Association on Tuesday at Eltham, the Patea Scout Troop were awarded the Ollerer.shaw Cup, competed for at the recent competitions, the error in awarding it to Eltham being explained by Commissioner Horner as having occurred through marks being transferred from the judge's to marshal’s card becoming mixed. BOWLING Patea will piay Hawera on the local green to-day commencing at 1.45 p.m. and will be represented by:—J. Bourke, Pearce, Wm. White, Logie, P. Bourke, Palmer, Hamerton, Dunkley, Walter White, Wainwright, McClymont, Oakley’, Sheahan, Scown, Hurley, Sheild, Ramsbottom, Beil, Hopkins and Cox.
